Seeking Candidates for Chair of the Board of Trustees
Charity Description
For 87 years, the Regal has been providing access to the arts at the centre of the community in and around Tenbury Wells. The Regal is a critical part of the community operating from a listed Art-Deco building with our 260 seat theatre and 50 seat studio providing a hub for live events, theatre, cinema and community activity. We offer an extensive and diverse programme intended to deliver something for everyone across our community and to deepen and enrich the lives of those living in our rural community. We also support the Regal Community Theatre, the Regal School of Creative Arts and produce a very popular panto each year.
Role Description
We are looking for a new Chair who will work with the Board of Trustees, the Theatre Director and her team, and our incredible volunteers to deliver on the Regal’s exciting and ambitious Mission and Vision. This is a volunteer role and will need someone with the time to dedicate to working with all stakeholders to ensure the success and sustainability of the Regal. We expect the successful candidate will work closely with the Theatre Director and will regularly attend the Regal for meetings, performances and events. Proximity to Tenbury Wells and a knowledge of the local area is a definite plus.
Qualifications
● Experience in the charities sector, preferably within the arts and culture industry
● Strong financial and business planning skills
● Proven experience in strategic planning and decision-making
● Knowledge of corporate governance principles and best practices
● Excellent leadership and communication skills
● Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
● Experience in fundraising and donor management is a plus
● Relevant qualifications in business, finance, or a related field would be beneficial
● Experience in building boards that have breadth and depth of skills needed to steer an organisation with a small staff and a dependence on committed volunteers
