Regal Community Theatre proudly presents an evening of Radio Staged Plays featuring 'Welcome To Our Village; Please Invade Carefully', 'Round The Horne' and 'Clare In The Community'.
'Welcome To Our Village; Please Invade Carefully' tells the story of the invasion of the small village of Cresdon Green by an alien race called the Geonin. They have placed a force field around the village, sealing if off from the outside world which has subsequently forgotten the village's existence. The suave leader of the Geonin attempts to hoodwink the villagers but young Katrina has set up a Resistance; or is trying to!
'Round the Horne' was a very popular series of witty radio sketches written by Barry Took and Marty Feldman. Produced by the BBC, the series ran for several years in the 1960's and featured well known comedy actors including Kenneth Williams and the show's namesake, Kenneth Horne. Many much-loved characters emerged, notably 'Julian and Sandy'; ‘Rambling Syd Rumpo’; ‘Dame Celia Molestrangler’ and ‘Binky Huckaback’, all played out in 'off the wall' sketches.
'Clare In The Community' is a BBC Radio 4 comedy written by Harry Venning and David Ramsden. Clare Barker is the social worker who has all the right jargon but never a practical solution. A control freak, Clare likes nothing better than interfering in other people's lives on both a professional and personal basis. Clare is in her thirties, white, middle class and heterosexual, all of which are occasional causes of discomfort to her.
