Set in a rural Cotswold parish during the reign of William IV, ‘Baking of Bread’ is a dramatic period piece. The story finds our heroine, Annie Stamps, forced to move in with her sister and injured brother-in-law and their starving children. When the tyrannical Squire beats her nephew for stealing a dead rabbit, Annie swears revenge. The Squire forces Annie into working for him, baking his bread, whilst she seeks opportunities to avenge her nephew. As the play progresses, Annie discovers that her plans do not run as smoothly as she had expected, culminating in a dramatic and surprising conclusion to the play.
Written by our in-house playwright, Jeremy Boaz, this promises to be an engaging, dramatic evening’s entertainment in the intimate setting of the Regal Studio Theatre.
