Roadhouse music par excellence. Americana with a Mancunian attitude. (Nick Dalton Record Collector)
It’s like he’s got The Band back together, sharing studio space with Ronnie Lane’s Slim Chance, with cameo’s from Dylan, Earle and Strummer. Malcolm Wyatt writewyatt.com and author of many band biographies including Slade)
Tall praise indeed but not surprising as Andy Sharrocks is one of the country's leading Rocking UK Americana artists. And with his new band The Incurable Romantics they are a musical force to be reckoned with.
As testament to this, Andy has had Mick Taylor and Paul Jones guesting on one of his albums, (Walking In Familiar Footsteps) and was personally invited by John Mayall to support him on a UK tour after supporting John at The Jazz Café in London.
You may have seen him with The Smokin’ Jackets at Skegness Rock and Blues Festival, or Colne Rhythm and Blues festival, or any other number of blues festivals over the years. The most recent being The Upton Blues Festival in 2024 He has even played The Knighton Community Hall supporting Dr Feelgood many moons ago, as he was a resident of Knighton for a few years in the early 80’s, when he used to play in Bishops Castle, Ludlow and Newtown regularly.
He recently released a triple album called Country Rock n Roll n Durty Blues, which says it all in the title. It is these genres where Andys Musical soul lies, narrating stories of a life lived on the edge to a background of familiar sounding music. As renowned music journalist Hugh Fielder said: It’s music that has sustained our generation from adolescence to the grave. And Andy has caught the essence of it.
