The Regal Cinema in Tenbury Wells has hopefully solved its recent heating problems by the installation of an electric furnace and its volunteers have booked films for a five-week run starting on January 2 with “ A Christmas Carol”.“We have been looking at the latest independent research on cinema audiences from TGI (Target Group Index) – the research company – and comparing them with our own experiences at the Regal,” said volunteer David Hambelton.
“Cinema continues to perform well despite the economic slump, with the number of cinemagoers climbing to a new high of 66per cent of the adult population.”
“We recently did our own survey at the Regal, which identified the main loss of our audiences during the winter months being the poor heating which we hope has now been fixed.”
The Regal survey showed 21per cent of audiences were under 30 with 73 per cent between 40 and 80 years old. Just six per cent were in the 30 to 40 years group, probably the group with the responsibility of young children.
“What ever all this means we hope you will come and visit the Regal Cinema soon, without you as a statistic the Regal could close,” said David.
Films will be returning to the cinema for a one day only pre-Christmas showing of “Up” on Friday December 18 at 7.30pm with five more films booked from January, For details visit www.regaltenbury.co.uk
