Locals asked to play a part How you can play your part rescuing the Regal THE new operators of Evesham’s Regal Cinema are asking Vale residents to get behind them as they prepare the venue for reopening next year. The team, currently refurbishing the Port Street cinema along with a trusty band of volunteers, want residents to prove that a huge amount of local demand exists, by supporting the cinema in a variety of ways. The Golden Ticket scheme is one such way. Local people can make a donation of £5 to receive the ticket and in return they will receive a redeemable cinema ticket that proves the holder helped the Regal get back into action and allows them discounted cinema tickets when it is reopened. There is also the opportunity to become a ‘friend’ of The Regal. A donation of £25 is required to become a friend and the benefits include concession price tickets, film listings sent to the supporter’s email account and an invitation to the Friends of The Regal Reunion. A donation of £150 is needed to become a ‘best friend.’ This entitles the person to a free candlelit table for four with a bottle of wine, the chance to purchase tickets before they go on general release, use of a private screening room and their name on a plaque in the Regal. Finally there is the corporate friends scheme, directed primarily at businesses who will be asked to make a donation of £1,500 in return for a number of perks when the cinema opens. The Regal team got off to a good start on Saturday after raising more than £1,000 through donations at the River Festival in Evesham. Eva Jaurena said: “We received unprecedented support at the River Festival and would like to thank all the volunteers that helped despite the rain.” For more information on how to get involved visit theregal.ac.
